1. BTH and Cold

Many people have commented on the variability of efficacy of resistance elicitors when tested under field conditions and have suggested that there could be an interaction with environmental conditions. The DRASTIC gene expression database makes it possible to look for plant genes that could possibly be instrumental in causing these fluctuations. One such search, with results listed below, provides a list of  Arabidopsis genes up-regulated by BTH (benzothiadiazole) and down-regulated by cold (see Table 1 below). Thus, in the DRASTIC database there are 1070 records for BTH and 506 records for cold regulated genes, and 96 genes are affected by both cold and BTH. Of those 96 genes, 19 are up-regulated by BTH and down regulated by cold. Further information on those 19 genes is provided below.

     1. Salicylic acid and Cold

     The same type of information has also been extracted from the database looking for genes upregulated by salicylic acid and down-regulated by cold (see Table 2 below).
